White or off-white crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste. Metamorphoses in light.

Mp214-220℃(decomposition); Specific rotation [α]25D+157.5°(dioxane), +176°(chloroform), +162°-+169°(ethanol); The ethanol solution has a maximum absorption at the wavelength of 242nm.

This product is insoluble in water, insoluble in diethyl ether, slightly soluble in chloroform, soluble in acetone, ethanol. It is soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid solution and shows green fluorescence. LD50 (rat, intraperitoneal)150mg/kg.

Glucocorticoids have four major effects, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-toxin and anti-shock, and are also adrenocortical hormones.
