Proteinase K is a serine protease, so its action can be inhibited with phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride, which is an inhibitor of serine proteases.
Scope of application
Proteinase K has been widely used in leather, fur, silk, medicine, food, brewing and so on. Depilation and softening in the leather industry have made great use of proteinases, which both save time and improve labor health conditions. Protease can also be used for silk degumming, meat tenderization, alcohol clarification. It can be used as medicine in clinic, such as pepsin in the treatment of dyspepsia, acid proteinase in the treatment of bronchitis, elastase in the treatment of vasculitis, trypsin and chymotrypsin in the purification of surgical suppurative wound and the treatment of serosal adhesion between the thorax. Enzyme washing powder is a new product in detergents, containing alkaline protease, can remove blood stains and protein dirt on clothing, but pay attention not to contact the skin when using, so as not to damage the protein on the skin surface, causing skin rash, eczema and other allergic phenomena.
